The Gilt Page is a literary collective for women committed to their writing — poetry, fiction, nonfiction, memoir, essay — where membership is free and the focus is on serious, sustained attention to the work.
One member receives a professional editorial review of her manuscript, provided each quarter through an application process, fully funded and free to the writer.
For as long as women have been writing, the industry has found ways to make it harder. The barriers were explicit once — bylines denied, manuscripts stolen, doors that simply didn't open. They're subtler now, but no less structural. The gatekeepers didn't disappear. They just moved online and charged admission.
In 2015, a writer submitted the same manuscript to fifty literary agents under a woman's name and received two responses. She resubmitted under a man's name and received seventeen — with markedly more substantive feedback.
Books by women are still priced lower on average than books by men. Agent networks, acquisition pipelines, and editorial relationships continue to reward proximity and credential over the quality of the work itself. The writing has never been the problem.
Ongoing online peer feedback groups where writers who are committed to the craft share work-in-progress and receive craft-level response from members who are as committed as you are.
Monthly online sessions with published authors and working editors — the kind of access that usually costs a graduate degree or knowing the right person.
Each quarter, one member receives a full manuscript review by a professional developmental editor — funded entirely by our patrons, awarded through an open application process, and given free to the recipient.
The Gilt Page will never take, license, or claim any ownership over a member's writing. Every word remains entirely and permanently the property of the writer who wrote it — we exist to protect that ownership, not touch it.
Membership costs nothing, now or ever. The Gilt Page will never ask a writer member for money — no dues, no fees, no hidden costs of any kind.

Membership is free and open to women writers who are committed to their craft. Applying for membership makes you eligible for the quarterly Editorial Fellowship, and every application is read in full. To keep the collective current, every member reapplies every two years.

The Gilt Page is funded entirely by patrons — individuals and companies who believe women writers deserve support the industry has historically withheld from them.
Every pledge is month-to-month with no contracts — cancel any time — and you'll receive a written quarterly report showing exactly how funds were allocated.
Founding Patrons are recognized on the website and in fellowship announcements unless they prefer to remain anonymous. You're also welcome to attend community workshops and events, and to share feedback on quarterly manuscripts — welcomed, never determining.
